Our highly-interactive workshops support young people in becoming leaders for social change. By amplifying youth voice, self-expression and creativity we create a space where youth explore equity and diversity issues that matter to them, and engage in critical thinking, meaningful conversations and personal growth as they gain the tools to lead positive change in society.
Equity and Diversity – The Basics
Participants explore the benefits of diversity and inclusion while gaining the language and tools to confront inequity and challenge stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination in their community.
Equity and Diversity – Going Deeper
Participants gain a deeper and more nuanced understanding of systems of oppression, how they affect different groups in society, and what they can do to be effective allies and advocates for inclusion.
Equity Game Show
An interactive game that explores the rarely-discussed moments in Canadian history, while spotlighting histories of social movements, and creating our own vision for an inclusive Canada.
Media and Me
This workshop will take participants on a journey of uncovering the hidden messages, stereotypes, and biases in the media that impact their daily lives, while gaining tools for socially conscious media use.
Evoking the Leader in YOUth!
By exploring diverse leadership styles, this workshop will help participants connect to their own leadership voice and uncover skills to help them be agents of social change in their schools and communities.
Participants examine the social construction of gender norms and ideas around “masculinity” and “femininity,” and question how these ideas can limit individuals’ well-being and unique self-expression.
Tools for Challenging Homophobia and Heterosexism
Participants will learn about sexual diversity and gain tools for promoting an environment of respect and inclusion for gay, lesbian, bi, queer, and questioning people while learning to effectively interrupt stereotypes and biases that feed homophobic attitudes and behaviours.
Beyond Gender Binary: Challenging Cissexism
This workshop will demystify gender expression and engage participants in challenging limiting assumptions and stereotypes around gender that perpetuate cissexism, the oppression of trans and people with non-binary gender identities. Participants will learn to see beyond the gender binary while actively supporting safe, positive, and inclusive environments for trans and gender-diverse people.
Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds
Participants will examine the relationships between equity and health (both physical and mental) and discuss strategies for promoting the health and well-being of young people.
Youth will learn about the connections between environmental justice and social justice, while gaining the tools to create healthier, greener, and more equitable communities.
Using an intersectional lens, this workshop explores identity and belonging while challenging biases and stereotypes that perpetuate racism and xenophobia (hate toward people from other countries). Participants will explore ways to create communities that are inclusive and welcoming of immigrants and refugees of all backgrounds.
Human Rights 101
What human rights do we have? Are human rights universal? What are the protected grounds? These and other questions will be answered in this interactive workshop where participants learn to apply the human rights framework to advocate for equity and inclusion.
